Taggart's Grill

One of my all-time favorite restaurants in Utah is Taggart's Grill in Morgan. Call it nostalgia if you want, but this was the first restaurant that I remember tickling my tastebuds. I grew up in Morgan and Taggart's was a quick drive for a weekend night out or if I was feeling particularly ~rebellious~ I took a "break" from 4th period for a long lunch. I love the cozy, rustic vibe and the homemade menu with classics that are more inventive than what you'd find at your typical hometown hub.

An "if you know you know moment," Taggart's is also known for peacocks roaming the property. Even as an adult, I love trying to spot them and subtly to coax them into fanning out their feathers.

Alright, let's get into the food. I'm of the opinion that you can't go wrong with this menu, but let's be choosy shall we? For starters, we're going with the artichoke dip and house-made pita bread (we'll be saying this a lot, stay tuned). The dip is creamy and flavorful, but not overbearing. Meanwhile the pita bread is the PERFECT vehicle to scoop and devour the artichoke dip. You're going to want to pace yourself, it's sneaky filling.

After that, I'm probably going for something with more pita bread. All of their sandwiches come on house-made pita, so you've got plenty of options to taste and try it on. This go around I went with the French Dip and beer battered fries. It is straight comfort food and plenty filling, especially after pita bread round 1.

Another fan favorite - the enchiladas! You can go with chicken, veggie, or spinach. I personally love the chicken enchilada with shredded chicken in a corn flour blend tortilla, topped with lettuce, tomatoes, jack cheese, a white cream sauce and guacamole. The sauce to enchilada ratio is generous, which I'm not mad about.

And the final course HAS to include carrot cake. I'm a carrot cake snob and this is far and away my favorite that I've ever had. The texture is just right and the cream cheese frosting is perfectly sweet and with a hint of tang.

I can't wait for you to experience this gem, it's such a great stop for the entire family. Pro tip: they don't take reservations, but they do accept 30 minute call aheads for groups under 8 to get your name on the list.
