The Lakehouse at Deer Creek

There are few things that I love more than a waterfront view and comfort food. When you combine the two? Heaven. That's what the Lakehouse in Heber City, Utah is encroaching on - a little taste of heaven. It's nestled right on the edge of Deer Creek Reservoir, with lakeside views, twinkle lights for effect, and a menu full of fine fare.

The pricepoint of The Lakehouse definitely swings toward "special occassion", so keep that in mind when planning your visit. It's cozy and intimate once inside, without feeling stuffy. They have a fairly wide range of options on their menu, I immediately salivated over the duckfat frybread scones with apple and honey butter (are we kidding?!). I also tried the burrata bread plate, a classic that they do well. Was it a little carb heavy for me to start the meal? Sure, but that's my own fault.

Now onto the mains - it's rare that I go to a restaurant like this and default to a burger. I'm saying this as a disclaimer, because the burger was reallyyyy speaking to me and my craving could not be curbed. It absolutely delivered in the moment. It's Niman Ranch Beef piled high with maple bacon, cheddar, heirloom tomatoes, romaine, jalapeno mayo (a whisper of spice), and sandwiched in between a brioche bun. It's a tasty burger that may or may not be worth the $24 price tag, that depends on how severe your craving is. I'm not saying I wouldn't order it again, but I am saying that there are so many other speciality dishes on the menu that I'm itching to try next time.

The other entree I sampled was the chicken and risotto with lemon sauce and broccolini. This was elevated comfort food at it's finest - cozy, savory, and just the right amount of sweet lemon sauce to balance it all out.

It is important to note that the menu here may change seasonally, so entrees like the chicken and risotto with lemon sauce may not be available depending on the time of year you visit.

Overall I really enjoyed my stop at the Lakehouse at Deer Creek, it won't be my last! Next time I go, I'm saddling up at a table on the deck so that I can really soak in the lakeside ambiance.
